Small Change, Big Results!

As I began my journey to lose weight and get back into shape, I found the most difficult part was avoiding junk food cravings. I love drinking soda and eating chocolate. I love chips and salsa. I love eating big meals, followed by big snacks. With all that said, if I kept doing the same things, all I could expect would be the same results. And it was those results that I wanted to change.

One very simple change made a huge difference in my success!

Cut Back on Soda
  • I was drinking as many as 8 Coke's a day when I was at the height of my weight gain. I would drink a coke (or two) with each meal. I would drink Coke in the morning and in the evening. I loved the taste of Coke.
  • I found the best way was to go cold turkey on Coke's. The first three days I did a Three Day Refresh, and I avoided Coke's altogether. I went about a month without any type of carbonated beverage. I now have a Coke on occasion, but no more than one a day
BENEFITS
A 12 ounce Coke contains about 140 calories, and is loaded with sugar. There really is no nutritional value for Coke. Eliminating Coke helped reduce my calorie count by about 1200 calories a day. That is pretty significant!

Power of Choice
Many of you out there might be reading this and saying, "I can't do that." Or, "there is no way I can cut back on soda! I need my soda!" I used to say the same thing. Here is the deal. Those are self-limiting statements. Instead of saying, "I can't," say, "I will."

Everything we do is a choice. We have a choice to eat healthy or eat unhealthy. We have a choice to drink 8 glasses of water or 8 cokes a day.

The results speak for themselves. I felt better after I eliminated Coke from my diet. I lost weight. I slept better. I was a little less irritable. Try it for yourself. Cut out your carbonated beverage of choice for 2 weeks. You will see a difference!
